Terms of Service

Effective date: 9 September 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Sifta app and related services ("Sifta", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Sifta, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. Who can use Sifta

Sifta is intended for freelancers, sole traders, and small businesses tracking their own spending. You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the app. By using Sifta, you confirm the information you provide is accurate and that you're authorised to use it for the business or account in question.

2. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know straight away at support@sifta.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

3. What Sifta does

Sifta reads receipts you capture or upload and extracts details like merchant, amount, VAT, and date to help you track spending and manage your VAT records. Extracted data is generated automatically, including by third-party OCR/AI services, and may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. You're responsible for reviewing and correcting extracted data before relying on it for accounting, tax, or VAT filings.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Sifta for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or to submit receipts or records that aren't genuine.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the app or its underlying systems.
  • Upload content that infringes someone else's rights or contains malicious code.
  • Resell, sublicense, or otherwise make Sifta available to third parties without our permission.

5. Subscriptions and payment

Some features of Sifta may require a paid subscription. Where that's the case, pricing and billing terms will be presented to you before you subscribe. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled, and you can cancel at any time through your account or app store settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of the receipts, images, and data you submit to Sifta. By using the app, you grant us a licence to process that content — including sending receipt images to third-party OCR/AI providers — solely to provide and improve the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property

Sifta, including its app, branding, and underlying technology, belongs to us or our licensors. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our intellectual property beyond what's needed to use the app as intended.

8. Disclaimers

Sifta is provided "as is". We don't guarantee that extracted receipt data, VAT calculations, or any other output will be error-free, and Sifta doesn't constitute tax, accounting, or legal advice. You should verify important figures and consult a qualified professional before relying on them.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sifta and its team won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for losses arising from inaccurate data extraction, missed filings, or reliance on the app, arising out of or related to your use of Sifta.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Sifta if you breach these Terms or misuse the app. You can stop using Sifta and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as Sifta evolves. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The "Effective date" above reflects the most recent update. Continuing to use Sifta after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
